Woodstock Magical Mystery Chime
~ CALYPSO ISLAND ~
Tuned Wind Chimes by Woodstock Percussion (MMCI)
Must be heard! Special acoustic effect makes "Yellow Bird" take flight!
Tuned to the last notes the well-loved Calypso song, Yellow Bird, this chime is one of three new Mystery Chimes by Woodstock. This Calypso Island Chime is tuned to the last notes of Yellow Bird, which is based on a 19th century Haitian folk song. Harry Belafonte helped introduce this classic Calypso tune to America and was instrumental in making it popular through hit recordings by The Mills Brothers, Arthur Lyman and Lawrence Welk. Using Octave Doubling, The notes D, C, B, A, G are repeated one octave apart "Octave Doubling" is described in the next paragraph.
Woodstock's new Mystery Chimes feature a musical phenomenon known as Octave Doubling. Here's how it works -- you remember the Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do scale from the "Sound of Music"? The "Do" note that comes at the start and end of this scale are the same note, an octave apart. Notes separated by an octave are considered harmonically equivalent and "ring" together in a way that adds a pleasing sound to the music. These Magical Mystery Chimes take this theory to the extreme -- all the notes of the chimes are matched with its "octave double". Never before used in windchimes, this special tuning creates a heightening of the harmonics, creating a song that must be heard to be believed. Check it out at www.woodstockchimes.com/t-octave-aspx.
All three of the new Mystery Chimes sound great together.

Maintenance: Every part of a Woodstock Chime is weather protected. Over time, however, those layers of protection can begin to wear. To enjoy your Woodstock Chimes for years to come, we suggest the following simple maintenance tips --
Periodically, apply a thin layer of Danish or lemon oil with a clean cloth to the hardwood parts. Regular oiling will help protect the wood and retard the natural aging process.
Woodstock Chimes tubes are made of anodized aluminum that will not rust when exposed to the elements. However, over time, the aluminum may show pitting as a result of environmental factors. Please note this will not affect the beautiful tones of your chimes. If necessary, use mild soap and water (or a foaming, non-abrasive cleanser) to clean the tubes. You can also use very fine #00 steel wool to polish and restore your aluminum tubes.
